Objectives

To introduce a reading culture in the rural communities, by providing various literature that will move the youth from idealness, drunkenness and drug abuse into self taught business skills especially with regard to income generation as a means of poverty alleviation.

Monthly subscription to the major local newspapers,
Monthly subscription to local and international magazine that provide insight on upcoming urban successful entrepreneurs, and emerging trends across various business industries,
Monthly subscription to various industry magazines and newsletters,
Provide TVs, DVDs, and Video Players as part of its resource facilities,
Source for various books from leading publishing companies and various individuals who may be interested in donating books to the facility,
Source for text books for primary and secondary going students, in order to assist them especially due to luck of adequate learning materials in the government sponsored primary and secondary schools,
Publish and inform the communities on any employment opportunities that may be available,
Work with donors and funding agencies to ensure that their research findings, publications are available and accessible to the community.

Research

Ukamba has a fully stocked its library with various business books both local and international. The goal is to encourage the unemployed youth to move away from idealness, drunkenness and drug abuse brought about by hopelessness into a reading culture where they will be able to find magazines, case studies, newspaper, and various self help books that will encourage and motivate them into making something out of their lives especially through self taught business skills.

Ukamba library facility offers a quiet and favorable reading environment for any interested primary, secondary, and college going students. Various research findings show the reason behind the poor performance of the girl child in the rural areas is luck of a favorable reading environment due to such things as to luck of electricity and poverty. Ukamba's library is a quiet, comfortable, and conducive reading environment for all school going rural children especially for the girl child.
